With this exhibit WP Puppet Theatre (WPTS) sparks curiosity, provides understanding, and examines one of the most pressing issues of our times — mental health. And WPTS does this all through puppetry! This exhibit is a celebration of a program initiated by in the autumn and spring of 2015/16. Participants from Circle of Supports at Boys and Girls Club, Studio C, United Active Living at Garrison Green, and Pathways to Housing at The Alex created a collection of mask-body puppets that reflect their sense of self. The external mask represents the self we share with the world and the interior of the mask is face we protect, rather than project.
The participants of View from the Inside: Courage Journey may face barriers including homelessness, learning differences, or aspects of isolation, discrimination and division; yet the common thread that binds us all together emerges — the essential experience of human nature with all the highs and lows of mental wellness. This WPTS project is funded in part by the Community Initiative Programs and donors through Invest YYC. TMC is a proud collaborator and partner in this initiative.
The +15 window gives a taste of the expanded exhibit at United Active Living at Fish Creek, 51 Providence Blvd. SE, and is open for public viewing on April 18th or 20th from 6:00pm to 9:00pm.
