Join us for a fun and fast-paced series of presentations that reflect a diversity of responses to both art making and flood stories. Told against the backdrop of powerful images and followed by questions and discussion, Six Minute Stories will inform and provoke.
David Burke of Alpha House will speak about his experience managing a homeless shelter for people with active addictions while being evacuated from the Victoria Park facility for several months.
Chester Lees, painter, art educator and TMC artist-mentor will share her recently completed resident-driven mural project at an apartment building managed by Calgary Homeless Foundation.
Max Ciesielski will share his moving photographs of the 2013 flood.
Flora Malig speaks about personal transformation through art programming she has attended at This is My City and the Women’s Centre.
Karin Millson describes a fibre art project she spearheaded with students which helped them raise funds to repair their flood damaged school.
