2012 Festival Partnerships
This is My City Art Society is heartily grateful to all its partners who, by their extraordinary programming, increase the opportunities for us all to contemplate and act upon our visions for a lively, healthy, and humane city.
We salute our partners for This is My City Festival 2012:
The Calgary Public Library, Central Library, is proud to host the dramatic work The Eviction of the Stuart Block in the John Dutton Theatre, a series of exhibitions on its new Art Wall, and other various events.
The Calgary Spoken Word Festival is pleased to weave themes of urban renewal and displacement throughout the monthly Youth Slams and the Slams at the Auburn Saloon.
The City of Calgary is deeply invested in supporting the expression of all of Calgary’s citizens, and proud to support this inaugural festival through additional programming opportunities that provide a framework and critical dialogue that bring together all of our many partners. The City is pleased to present the opening event, the panel discussions, and the closing Block Party of This is My City Festival 2012.
EMMEDIA’s Artist in Residence, Tomas Jonsson, was one of the original artist team members of This is My City. As the current artist in residence at EMMEDIA, he continues to explore the themes of urban renewal and displacement in his new projects.
The Glenbow Museum’s exhibit participation is much appreciated.
The High Performance Rodeo: As a long-time supporter of the work of This is My City, the High Performance Rodeo is pleased, with the support of One Yellow Rabbit, to present The Eviction of the Stuart Block.
Museum of Contemporary Art-Calgary (MOCA Calgary, formerly Triangle Gallery) is an important festival exhibition site, located in the heart of Calgary’s Urban Renewal district near City Hall. MOCA is pleased to present a group show of artworks that look at inner city life and transformations. The works of Bernard Safran are on exhibit with the works of Calgary-based artists John Dean and George Webber.
The New Gallery is presenting a series of exhibitions thematically entwined with This is My City as a part of the festival offerings.
TRUCK Contemporary Art is pleased to present artwork by Karen Asher.
Limelight gave the possibility of performance to us all.
